Instituted in the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India who unified the nation post-independence, this award recognizes exceptional individuals or institutions whose work has significantly contributed to strengthening the fabric of a united India.
Whether through civic leadership, cultural integration, education, social activism, or governance, this prestigious recognition honors those who rise above boundaries to build bridges — and inspire others to follow.
Who Can Be Nominated?
- Any Indian citizen, institution, or organization
- Must have made notable contributions to national unity and integrity
- Self-nominations are welcome
- Nominations can also be submitted by:
Citizens of India
Institutions and organizations
State/UT Governments
Central Ministries
What Does the Award Include?
While this is not a monetary award, recipients will receive:
A gold and silver lotus-leaf-shaped medal
A citation from the President of India
National-level recognition as a guardian of India’s unity and integrity
