Rise & Help: A Year to Spark Change – One Young Changemaker at a Time

Imagine being 21 years old, full of ideas, compassion, and drive—but held back by financial limitations. You want to do more than survive—you want to serve. That’s where the Rise & Help Program steps in.Launched by SOS Children’s Villages India, in partnership with SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit, this inspiring initiative offers young Indians aged 18 to 30 a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: a year-long, grant-supported civic engagement journey to work on a social cause close to their heart—whether it’s girls’ rights, education, poverty, healthcare, or climate change
But this isn’t just volunteering. This is a launchpad for leadership.
“The Rise & Help Program didn’t just support me financially—it helped me see myself as a changemaker,” says Aarti, a 23-year-old fellow working on menstrual health education in rural Bihar.
What makes this program unique? It’s not about your degree—it’s about your drive. Whether you’re a high school graduate or a budding social worker, as long as you’re committed to making a difference and come from a low-income background, you can apply. The only catch? You must already have a voluntary position lined up, and a strong desire to create change where it matters most—on the ground.
Here’s what you get:
- Living expenses covered for one year
- Mentorship and leadership development
- A platform to impact lives—and shape your own journey
